Hi Guys,
Could anyone involved in Track creation tell me if it's possible to alter the Goodwood Track to a 3-2-3 grid formation as seen at the Goodwood revival and Members Meetings? Is it just correctly massaging the AIW or TRK files or would it mean establishing a knowledge of some 3D program (which my brain simply refuses to understand... I tried with wheels and was completely lost)
If it can be done with changing paramiters in one of the files I may stand a chance. The 3-3-3 grids on the Ingliston track tells me that it should/could be possible!

Hi Guys...
You need rFactor AIWCAM Editor (new AIW file, grid positions)+ photoshop (tarmac-grid texture)...

Oh well, never mind, I suppose if it were easy someone would have already have done it.
Thanks carTOON for laying the thought to rest though.

I can do it for you and it is fairly easy. At least, for me it is. I have an RF1 version of it from GPL originally and I can test it. It's labelled 1.2 and was converted by Ken in 2007. If this is the version you are using it should work for you. It would probably be best if you sent me the AIW file of the version of the course you are using and I will adjust it and then send it back to you.
Note - this will be an adjusted starting grid only. I am not going to adjust the textures - only the AIW file.

Thank you Marvin, that's a very kind offer, the grid slot markings don't matter too much to me anyway, I'd just love to recreate the Goodwood grid formations for my own satisfaction of having the 3-2-3 that we see there.
I've just had a thought... I realise I've not included in the title that I am talking about GTR2 (for an extended and abused) GTL-GTR2 installation, not Rfactor, sorry for any mix up, as is my way, I tend to think stuff and assume we're all magically on the same page
If we are talking GTR2 I will be only too willing to fire off the AIW file

I have the revised starting grid ready to go. I can't remember the details of the GTR2's AIW but I as I recall the starting grid is the same so if you want to, you can give this grid a try but, FIRST - back up your current AIW file somewhere so you can restore it if this doesn't work for some reason. Here is the revised grid :
I believe this replaces the grid section down to where it says [ALTGRID]. As you can see, there are 40 grid spots but I don't think there are that many pit spots. If you do sprint races with no pit stops you should be OK. You can also race with fewer cars - the original has 28 grid spots.

Fantastic Marvin, I just had a quick race from the back and seeing the cars ahead was a dream!
Later on when I've more time I'll run through a couple of race weekends and get a few screenies.
Thank you so much for this Christmas Present

You're very welcome. I'm glad you like it.
I am a big fan of racing with big grids of cars, endurance racing style. That's why I added some spots there for 40 cars. I have a grid for racing with 60 at Istanbul.

The thing about the 3-2-3 formation is that from the front you see 5 cars across the track, a whole herd of cars leaping off the line in replays... love it

Yes, it's definitely a hoard of cars at the start. That's very cool with a cloud of smoke.
