Hillman Avenger WIP

I was so tempted to call this thread Avengers Assemble but i decided against it after naming the Capri MK1 WIP 'The car you always promised yourself' which seemed to confuse people who didn't see Ford's advertising campaign back in the day
So, with nothing at all to do with Marvel's Finest Superheroes here's my attempt at the humble Hillman Avenger...









It's based on the mess of triangles that was the Chrysler 180 which i cut into lots of pieces and then stretched, hammered, re-profiled and welded back together. It then went to the legend that is Freeracer who did his thing getting it into proportion and starting to look like it should
It goes without saying this wont be done next week but the foundations are laid and one day they'll take their rightful place on the grid.
I'll update as and when things happen...

As a huge fan of Classic Vauxhalls I'd love a Viva GT but the only HB I've seen is a mega poly job on the Humster site and it's not cheap...
Can't think of a good lookalike to make one from either

I had one of this beauty in late 70s, if i'm not wrong I guess, and it was in a very nice red colour. Here it was called Dodge Polara 1800, with only 2 doors. At that time it was the fastest car among the small and mediun cars. It win the Brasilian Touring Cars Championship, Gr1 at that time (1976).

Looking at the photo's by jeanno the rear roof on your mod looks incorrect I don't know if its the rear corners or actual roofline. Infact when I first saw your car it was the first thing I noticed. Could it be tweaked a little maybe

It's a bit of an optical illusion on the pic although the edges of the roof are a bit square looking from the rear but it's not the finished article yet

Small wip update... I didn't like the windscreen: it was square at the lower corners and too rounded side on so i've changed it for a more Avenger like one;



I've re-profiled the roof so it flows better towards the back (still needs the edges 'softening' imo) as well as adding the centre ridge on the bonnet and fitting rain channels, side windows and surrounds.

Now, has anyone seen 3d rims like these (or similar) on their travels? They're Exacton alloys and were fitted to various cars in the 70's including the Avenger GT's that raced it the BSCC;





I've been looking at all sorts of mods on my hard drive and can't find anything really close. The nearest are the ones on the Melkus that Speedster did.
I'm sure GeeDee must've nicked and stashed a set at some point

I'm really very excited waiting this car in my garage, and you're doing an excellent job. But please, don't forget an option to use also the Mineylites.
As I'd said before, this was my car in late 70s (just a bit difference at grill and engine).
Take your time, my dear Zee / Mel / Tincorna (enough??). Cheers!

I've managed to make some Exacton alloy wheels too. They're not 100% accurate but i think they'll look fine in game

Looks like a car we had here in Australia, but I cant remember what. Probably a blend of Escort and Opel, either way it looks interesting.
Avenger even had it's own badge!

In Finland, it was called Sunbeam Avenger.
