Even with XP Professional, Gee? Or no need, please!!

I'm not sure if it will help Ney m8 but give it a try as it is only activated when you want it to be. It's easy to remove from your system to.

I went to raceroom.net but unfortunately it seems they have stopped the downloadable GTL program. The links for registering take you to a news page promoting their new sim.

I did find STEAM is selling GTL to download, but I can’t find any info or anyone who has tried it to tell me if it works on Windows7. While I hate to buy a third version of the game, if it works for Win7 it would be worth it to have GTL back up and running again.

Don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate the patch, if I can ever get my favorite sim back up and running I will add it in.

If you are in the GTL.exe with a right click go to properties, where the card is compatible.
There I put a hook in the compatibility mode and in the selection window, I selected WindowXP (Service Pack 3).
Privilege level: Run this program as an administrator.
That was all I had to do.
My GTL is a completely open patched version that you could buy at Computer Bild Spiele.
Unfortunately, there is no more to buy.

I saw on a forum that SIMBIN lost their licences for Ferrari and Porsche so the "new" GTL and GTR2 on Steam have lost all these cars but I think there is a patch for that.About GTL on Win7 the problem is with that Starforce garbage that can't be updated for Win7.

I am running windows 8 with my GTL (no CD version) and all I did was install it as normal. I then found out about the 4GB patch which makes the program work much better. Was as easy as that for me.

Your no CD version of GTL, is that the one from Raceroom.net or Steam?
Where can I find this version that will work on Win7 and 8?

I have GTL running on win7 and have no problems. When you load it up, create a seperate foler for the game. DO NOT PUT IT IN PROGRAM FILES. If you do it will not work. I have created a seperate "Games folder" where all of my racing sims reside. Oh, and I use the GTL 2008, de-crypted version.

I did the same thing, well sort of. My Windows7 and program files are on thier own SSD, and all of my games are on a seperate hard drive in thier own games folders.
I just looked and my dvd says GT Leggends 2005 on the outer edge, so is that part of the problem?

I don't think it matters Dan. I'm running GTL2005 under W7 with no problems. Just installed the game, then (if I remember well) didn't restart the PC, and after that I applied the decrypted CRACK/PATCH (2008 I think). My PATCH is actually the v1.1.0.0 NOCD, has like 90mb. Just copied the PATCH over the original game files, let overwrite the original files, of course, then run the "Decompress.bat" file... and that was it for me. Saves me from running the game with the CD in the optical drive too. Every time I (re)start the PC, there's a warning about the Starforce... but I just don't give a damn. Hope this helps you somehow.

Vintage Racer, another option to get a working GTL is to get a steam account, find GTL in steam, and find the enter code (or something to that effect) button on the GTL page in steam. When the enter code prompt pops up, you can enter the key that you used when you first installed GTL off the CD (if you still have it). Enter the code with out the dashes (ex HTJS8G...) and continue. If steam accepts the code, it will give you a free, decoded version of GTL which requires no CD and is playable on Windows 7 and up. Steam will try to make you run GTL through steam, but once downloaded, simply go into steam>steamapps>common, cut the GT Legends folder out and paste it into your main drive or wherever you like. Now you have unlimited copies of GTL for your own personal enjoyment without the need of a CD or steam and no starforce on your computer.

P.s. These instructions are from memory, so if you get lost along the way I can give you more indepth instructions if needed. MG's method is also a good viable option and works just as well.

Well I'm stuck, I went into my steam account, looked up Games, racing, GTL, and it will let me purchace it by CC or PayPall but I dont see any where to put in my starforce codes from the original versions I have.

So now I try to re install my GTL like befor, in a games folder not in the programs folder, as admin and then open this patch and let it over write the file. Yes?

Yes. And after you overwrite the original files, don't forget to run DECOMPRESS.BAT.

I seem to remember looking at the version once apon a time and it was already at 1.1. But I'm dling the 1.1 patch now just incase.

I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you, but I remember how to do it now. In the bottom left hand corner of steam there is an "add a game" button. Click this and choose the "activate a product on steam option". From there, agree to the user agreement, and put in your code without the spaces. This should then get you GTL for free.

Glad to hear you're up and running! Sadly, with all these new cars, you could spend weeks downloading and installing them all before you even get to drive one!
