GTL - How to modify 6 or 7 speed gear box???

Hi to all,

I am facing a small problem with some new cars downloaded on GTL. Some of those new cars have gerboxes with 6 or 7 speeds (Caterham CSR 420, etc.) But when you are in the GTL garage you can only modify the first 5 speeds. Does somebody now how to add the 6 and 7 speeds in the garage setup?

I don't think it is possible.

I think HDV editing is your only option for the 5 & 6 gears.

I would make a suggestion to Evo, & others, when converting these modern cars to think about this & maybe lock the gears, (ie only the 1 ratio for each gear) & give many choices for the final drive (differential). As a compromise.

You don't always need to edit a gearbox with more than 5 gears in it for GTL. It depends on how the gearbox is set up. If all of the gears move together when choosing them, then you can leave them as you can still get more than 5 gears to move.

Problems only really arise when the gears move independantly of each other which means that you cannot move any gears over 5.

It's very easy to change the amount of gears in the box:

1... Open the .hdc file with WordPad or Notepad.

2... look for the lines that look like this:
ForwardGears=6
Gear1Setting=0
Gear2Setting=3
Gear3Setting=14
Gear4Setting=24
Gear5Setting=33
Gear6Setting=39

3... and edit like this:
ForwardGears=5 //6
Gear1Setting=0
Gear2Setting=3
Gear3Setting=14
Gear4Setting=24
Gear5Setting=33
//Gear6Setting=39

4... Then save (CTRL/S)


I hope that is what you are looking for

I just use a six speed box from the new mustang and change the ratios if necessary, with six it isn't really an issue.
