Hi Soze.. Smile If you set the FPDriver instance value to this >LODOut=(1.5), in some cases it will rid the mirror view of the driver arms. And concerning the steering wheel size vs. the spread between the FPdriver arms, I do one of two things:
Easiest first... 1: In the .CAR file the SteeringWheelType= line. I try different values here..(1 thru 6) I believe are the choices. The different values will change the stance between the gloves in relation to the Swheel, and if you get lucky with that, the FirstPersonDriver position has to be adjusted also in most cases. You'll know if this is the case.

Lastly, if option 1 fails, go to 2: Steering Wheel Int or A.. resizing. In 3dSimEd, Z-Moddeler or other compatable program, you will have to increase the X and Z axis values and then reset the 'pivot point' values. I do this as my last recourse but the other method is simpler and less time consuming.

And actually on second thought, it wouldn't be such a bad thing to re-size the SW_A because it looks like it would open up the gauge cluster a little more and make it more readable.

I'm hoping some of this might help you with your conversion Soze. Smile

Cheers, [fisheracing]

LZR - I believe that everybody wants to drive this mod right now (including me, of course), but some big and small issues need to be adressed and the solutions tested before this thing sees the daylight. We don't want a 1.1, 1.2, 1.3... versions, just a 1.0 final, because this is gonna weight A LOT to download it multiple times. Be patient, mate, and you will not regret it Very Happy

GeeDee & Ney.dias - Don't worry, guys. I'm Spanish, we are never in a hurry Very Happy.

fisheracing - Thanks a lot for your help Very Happy. I tested your first solution for the steering wheel, but the bloody's too little for fine tuning the arms spread, so I had to resize it. Also, the rotational centre is perfect now. And the mirrors (I think. I need to test it with someone following me, but these cars are too difficult to drive at the moment):

convert F1 1971 mod for GTL - Page 3 Gtl_2064

- The first person pilot position has been adjusted a bit, as well as the feet and shift stick positions. I like the result Very Happy.

Shifting:

Accelerating:

Braking:

Punta-Tacón (Sorry, I don't know the english word for that move):

convert F1 1971 mod for GTL - Page 3 Gtl_2067

- It is known that GTL doesn't show the front suspensions in cockpit. Well, now it does:

convert F1 1971 mod for GTL - Page 3 Gtl_2061

- I moved the exterior pilot a bit ahead and down:

convert F1 1971 mod for GTL - Page 3 Gtl_2069

...but the outer shift stick position is wrong (fisheracing - Do you know if that can be changed?):

convert F1 1971 mod for GTL - Page 3 Gtl_2070

- The fuel cockpit is now functional. The needle is off centre, though. Next, I'm going to test if the rfactor needle centering value works here. I hope so.

Thank you and good night, gentlemen Very Happy

First Soze I must say, Wow! I think I'll say it again...Wow! Excuse me, but that just felt right. Wink
I must say, what a huge difference in those screenies you have shown us. Very impressive.
It seems it was the right move to re-size the interior steeringwheel. You have opened up the gauge cluster. Bravo!

Now, concerning the exterior view gear selector, yes, that has always been a challenge for me and the only option available afaik, is to isolate it from the mesh as a separate object, reposition it, and then add it to the original mesh (object) again. It does take some time but I believe it is the only way as exterior shift position adjustment is not an option. If you look at most mods and even the default cars in GTL and GTR2, in the exterior view, the hand to shifter coordination is not correct about 90% of the time, if not more. Wink

I trust my explaination is clear and you are able to do something with the suggestions I have offered my friend. Very Happy

Cheers: Glen, [fisheracing]

Glen - I did as you said. The driver's right arm keeps getting out of the cockpit, but much less now. Here, the separated meshes:

Also, the issue appears to be more visible from some viewpoints than from others:

- I've applied all these changes to the next cockpit, the Ferrari 312 B2. The suspensions are more evident here because the cockpit is lower:

It's a very nice car:

You are most welcome Sir.. Very Happy Both you and I know this is how goals are reached and mods are completed....by the efforts of individuals offering their help and experience where and when it is needed. That's how things get done, through community interest and support. It is a 'good recipe'.

Back to the mod now. Yes I see you have found out that when you alter one thing it affects another.
I have even upscaled the cockpits to make everything fit properly. It never seems to end. But it does.

This kind of conversion is very time consuming because the original 3D model is a smaller scale in relation to the new exterior driver being used. I have had to learn my borders and limitations like "how much time do I want to spend on this mod'?, and "is it worth it"? Most of the time the answer is - Yes! Smile

In a case such as this conversion, I would feel it is well worth it judging by how nice the cars look already and how much nicer they will be when completed.

You have done an excellent job up until now Soze. Smile Keep up the good work my friend. Wink

Indeed, it's really inspiring. And knowing that you're not alone struggling with the files (a lot of them, indeed), that your community is backing your efforts is very motivating. I thank all the people who are simply following this thread for that Very Happy.

Glen - I totally agree with you. Converting can be terribly difficult when the interactions among the different parts work against you. It's overwhelming and very time consuming. But then you look at the cars and everything has a sense. You say to yourself: 'Ah, this is why I'm working this hard'.

Without your help this project could have been delayed for months, or simply stayed at its present state for ever, like so many others. I owe you that much. If you ever need any help, please let me know Very Happy.

About the mod, I don't know if I'll be able to scratch some time for working on it this week, but you bet i'll try. The weekend, for sure Very Happy.

Sorry for the lack of updates.

I've found another issue that I just coudn't figure out. I'm feeling pretty ashamed because this is something that I usually can do. It's the gauges, the Ferrari ones are just like you would expect to find in any mod: a dashboard mesh with materials and textures for the different gauges. You rename the materials and add a needle map. You pack everything in a .cpit.gtl file, copy the cockpitinfo data in the .car file and then it should work. But here, you find a dashboard with all the gauges already in it (it's the same texture), and then a transparent mesh over the gauges, where you can rename the materials (which I did), but when you pack the whole thing it doesn't work. The worst is that every car in this mod is made this way, except for the Ferraris. If any of you can help me here it would be great, because I'm running out of ideas.

- I tested the car alone. No more cars loaded, so it's not an interferance from another car.

- I tried it twice, and then another time, to test if I had misled any step of the process. Nope.

---------------------------------------

- Frustration is a terrible thing, it can make your mind wander without a course. Look where it has taken mine to:

This motherfrakker is delicious. You don't realize the fast you must drive it until a fair number of laps done, you simply don't believe it. It's the king of acceleration too, in slow tracks is a damn good choice, even the best. It's engine climbs like a F22!!!, and very turbo.

Thank you, guys!!! Very Happy

Darkside - Of course, these are private conversions of the DRM Revival Mod. Every file I would share it always will be with due permissions.

The best converted car here is the E21. The 935 gauges are not working so far, and the others are older conversions which I'd like to update before even thinking in releasing them. Also, they have a problem: I can't make lights work properly. I can have them on or off, but not activating them in game. I couldn't figure that out. If any of you could help me with them I would be eternally grateful. The whole community, actually, because driving these cars is a unique experience. In example, I won a race against the 935, the Capri and the Lancia driving a 320. In slower tracks is amazing, with a turbo behavior very successfully simulated and staggering acceleration in high. If the 935 has enough room to begin changing gears the thing is quite different, though. The M1 is the fastest. Is a lot faster than the 935. I think it's paired with the Group C sports-prototypes in terms of performance, but I didn't actually test it. I took the car and managed to pass the Criterium de Cevennes demo with it, so imagine what a hell of a car. Another amazing track for it is the Targa Florio. There you can juice it, its perfect direction and suspensions, overwhelming power and brakes. But the best it's the interior view, believe me Wink. You will never see another interior like this.

Another lack they have is the sounds. I can convert the sounds from rFactor to GTL, but I'm a bit clumsy with the final mixing and the result is not always very nice. So I took some Formula 1 1975 and 1979 sounds for them and they sound so nice now... Wink

Hell, I was going to post this when I saw Zpectre's post, so what I wrote here is somewhat outdated. I will contact the original authors for permission to convert the mod and I will keep you posted.
