Subject: LeMans 60's and Sebring 60"s Sun Apr 19, 2020 6:20 pm
I do hate to ask for things from anyone on this site, but I don't know how to build tracks. Would anyone be able to graphically update the Lemans 60 and Sebring 60's tracks. With all of the newer cars becoming available it would really be nice to have these particular tracks updated. My apologies if anyone feels offended but they could use some updating as I know they were made a t a time when everyone was worried about memory and cpu's being able to handle the loads.
Thank you

Yes, those two tracks and many others from the '60s are in BIG need of improvements. Lately I've put in some time working on Sebring...

Nice to have a thread dedicated to race tracks from the era. Regarding Sebring, one of the main things that bothers me is of course the airfield section with the very low resolution planes which dearly need an update and the just endless grass plains with no detail what so ever. I also feel that all the textures could use some more saturation, a bit more vibrancy in colors could bring it to life.
But yeah, Sebring, Le Mans, maybe Daytona and Brands Hatch (im using the EarlyBrands version) could use some updates and i know for a fact bonnier is on the case! An issue i have with EarlyBrands is the skybox appearing in the actual sky when going uphill it becomes visible (especially towards turn 2) and its very annoying..

Off the top of my head regarding Sebring, here's what I've already done or plan to do in order to improve the track:
Removing all the plastic modern marshall toilets around the track... New horizon backgrounds Having the sun to actually set at Sunset Bend... Adding collision detection to the white tyres at the Esses (so you will actually lose control over the car if hitting them) Adding collision detection to the sand banks (so you actually can get stuck in them...) Improving the AI at several sections Adding a correct start/finish line Adding different surface materials so that for example the runways will be really bumpy Replacing/removing all the modern/ugly cars from especially the bridges Reducing the ridiculous amount of camp fires Removing all the (although cool) WW2 planes Fixing material issues with the rest of the flying machines Removing the nation flags on the Martini bridge (they weren't there in 1967) Improving trackside cameras New loading screens Replacing/improving the graphics for trees, grass, asphalt, buildings etc. Adding Le Mans type of grid for the start Rescaling the way too large brake markers around the track Improving the transition from day to sunset Redoing the various trackside lights Adding the small cableway at the start straight Making a correct billboard for the Mercedes-Benz bridge Adding the Inver House marshall tower New Martini Rossi billboard for the Martini bridge Adding marshall tower at the hairpin Removing and/or replacing all the crap in the area behind the pits

And I would say that the only track of the 8 ones intended for the 1967 WSC mod that don't need any major improvements (besides AI) is Targa Florio. The rFactor2 Spa looks nice graphically but of course needs all the fantasy billboards replaced with period correct ones.

WOW. Your eye for detail is unmatched. Cant wait to see your version of the track in action! Also, what do you think about using the ENB Series graphics mod in GTR2?

Speaking of ENB I installed the GEMFX mod and made my game look like a movie from the 60s which I think is f*****g amazing

I'm not familiar with that one but use a modified gfx file (gfxGTR_2_Shader_Upgrade160) by Syhlif32 which really makes quite a difference compared to the original. I also recall testing newer versions of that mod but didn't like them and settled for the 1.6 version.

I don't know if it is possible to convert from AC to GTR2, but, for the 60's LeMans track, there is a version for AC called LeGrand Circuit. It is Lemans 67 and it is very well done. On par with VLM's 77, 79 and 91 renditions.

Well of course its possible but it would be just so much more work than converting from lets say rfactor 2. Also i dont know if you are aware but there are texture packs for the Le Grande circuit that introduce real sponsors accurate to the 66 Le Mans race i think. I have one from racedepartment and it really increases the immersion
