| Okay, so everybody on here knows about Butch's 250 GTO mod (and if you didnt before, you do now lol).
Well, I was extremely hopeful it would be all that the real car was... well, for those in the know, it was a little bit of a let down on the physics end of the mod. The engine was a nightmarish thing that was underpowered compared to the real cars... the gearbox ratios were off because whoever coded it didnt bother to set all the ratios against 100 so that they worked out evenly. and the transmission, suspension, weight balance, gross vehicle weight, tires (I have a set of viuntage tires I made that are if I do say so myself, INCREDIBLE... that I made for a 427s/c cobra from my personal stash).
Sooooo all that is to say, that since I felt like Butch had taken enough shite from people for making the mod, I would go and fix some of the things I felt were wrong about it... I'm going to do this as an addon to the existing mod, so it wont overwrite anything and the class will read differently in the showroom.
I'm finished with the engine and have a transmission I could use, but I may re-do that again, and I'm about to do the last of the suspension tweeks and .HDC changes... I'm also going to change the sounds since the ones he used sounded kinda wimpy and puny... I'm not saying this should sound like a musclecar, but it should be extremely loud and raspy, with a nice mellow low end to it... I have a set of sounds I would like to use, butI need to get permission first... That will be the hardest part of this overhaul.
Hopefully you guys will like what I do with the car and keep supporting the modding community for GTL/GTR2/GTR ...

| This sounds interesting Alex and I wish you you all the best with the project. One thing I do know about the mod is that he won't give permission for any skins whatsoever to be made for it... that is why there is no template available. | |

| Thanks GeeDee
yeah, I know... thats the downside... I may be able to work a deal with him though... in the original pack there are 5 or 6 screwed up skins that are totally wrong and are like the wrong pixel size (wrong resolution like its too big for the car) I may be able to make some with that... If necessary I have a better quality version of the body 3d that I may use and I can map on my own...
just a thought... | |

| TBH I didn't find much wrong with Butch's GTO... It's almost as fast as a Shelby Daytona like it should. The sounds were disappointing though. | |

| SimBin's GTL Daytona is not as fast as it should be by quite a big margin. It was made to be faster than the Ferrari's and would do around 190 mph (304 kph). While Butch's car looks great fron the outside I think the cockpit around the windows especially looks unrealistic and ugly. He did the same thing with the Ferrari 250swb. They look as if they have been made with chunky wooden window frames. I still love too drive them though. | |

| Dunno what to say GeeDee... I mean you're right about the top speed, which actually is off on all cars, but overall, the performance is there IMO ! Let me give you an example: on Spa67 my best time is 3m56s2 with the Cobra Daytona (default GTL physics / top speed, keyboard drive - you can get my replay from NoGrip), while on reality, in 1965, the best time for a Cobra Daytona at Spa was 4m9s0. 13seconds is quite a difference even for a 4min track ! From what I know, in 64/65, under 4m at Spa got only the prototypes (and not all of them), F1 cars ! So, with GTL's physics but the correct top speed (at least 300km/h), 1 might get at Spa67 even 3m40s... which is Ford GT40, Ferrari 330 P4 teritorry... so pure SF ! _________________ Ferrari ... | Could always put your new physics on the Forza model if Butch does not want you to update his physics. | |

| @ MG421982
Have you tried 'Crocko's' Peter Brock Tribute Daytona. This is probably more realistic in speed and it's a great drive and really worth a look.

| There is at ng a mod that upgrades the Daytona making the 6th gear available to use (it was made by the devs but not put in real use). | |

| Hello,
This sounds like an exciting project ... hope it's still underway - am already a big fan of Butch's GTO, and any improvements would be superb! Hope it's still underway?
