A problem with 'floating' wheels Empty
PostSubject: A problem with 'floating' wheels   A problem with 'floating' wheels EmptySat 17 Nov 2012, 4:24 pm

I've had this mod as a default mod from the word go. Added a few cars to it (currently have at least 27 cars in the class). C:\GTL\GameData\Teams\TC-65\Mini Cooper S.

It appears someone has tied a car mod (or 2 or 3) to it, and now the tires are about 6-8 inches above the track surface. Anyone know which one, or better yet, how to tell which other mod or mods use it as a base? Would like to try to remedy the problem, as it looks really terrible in-sim.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT - btw, you'll notice, if you look, that there is no '.tyr' file for the class. I've tried introducing one; the sim ran fine with it, but nothing changed when I altered the file as I have in the past. Not too surprising, since I don't have a clue as to what I'm doing...

When I had this problem in the past MOF,the only way I could trace it,was to look at what I'd recently added and see if it had anything related to the class of car that you see with the problem Surprised
With me,it was the Citroen 2CV that was causing the problem, once I'd changed the tire file in the mod,it didn't conflict.
It will be something that you have added to the TC-65 Class,it might not necessarily be based on the Mini, just might use the same tire file, which has been altered, which in turn, will alter all those corresponding tire files! Shocked
Best of luck finding the culprit Wink Its for this reason that I keep a list of all things I add to my install now,and check beforehand to see if there are any conflicting files.

Thanks for the response. Seems a simple solution is possible, provided I can find the offending mod or mods...

The best way to make sure that you do not have tire problems in the future is this. After you find the incorrect tire and revert back to the one that was working properly. Copy that tire file into the folder that contains the hdc files for the car type you are working with. Then rename the tire file to something unique such as MOFmini.tyr then go to the hdc files that are in that folder and change the tire reference to the name of the file you just created. That will insure that it won't happen again someday. The problem is that the game looks for a tire file that is named in the hdc file of the car you are using. If there are duplicate tire files of the same name in different locations it will use the first one that it finds. If it finds it in some other location other than the car folder you are using you will be stuck with all of the parameters of that file including names of compounds, grip, size, etc. hope this makes sense and helps you and others.

Just take the mods out one by one MOF until it starts working properly.

If you have a lot of mods then take 5 or six out at a time.

Hope that helps.

Gee. Very Happy

PS. do you have another GTL install? If so copy the main files over and see what happens.

Thanks GeeDee, but my problem is solved.

...and thanks to jd121449, the problem was resolved using his advice. But I must admit that I got lucky and picked the offending mod on the git-go, thanks to the post by nikbear. I changed the tyre name in the Citroen 2CV mod and both the 2CV and Mini Cooper S tires are now in normal contact with the track surfaces.

Am I having a nice day...or what! Smile
