GTL2008 in Windows 7

Is anyone using GTL2008 in Windows 7, or is everyone using the newer file set.? I've had GTL2008 almost since it came out and when I switch to a Windows 7 machine in the near future, I was wondering if GTL2008 will work on that op system. Having a new machine and not being able to mod GTL on it, ....well, it just wouldn't be worth it..

I use it(I believe.. Whatever one is on gamecopyworld). No issues here W7 x64 Ultimate. I wasn't aware there was something newer actually.

In fact you have to use the patch (GTL2008) to get GTL to work on Win7. See:

My mistake guys, I didn't realize GTL2008 and the "no-cd patch" were that same thing. I did recognize it when I went to the download site. Only two years since I loaded it, must be gettin' senile....

Yeah you need to use the patch because of the older version of starshit.

Install the game but don't run it.
Install the "no-cd" patch.

I believe also if you rename the GDB's to lowercase extension you can still play online.

I install and , after running, locked my start up of windows ,cause starshitttt!i have gtl on my old desktop with xp 32 sp2 and now i would play with my new computer on win7 64 .Enaugh to install gtl2008 and work fine without lock my win7?

I'm not sure what you mean Niko but when you run a 32bit game on a 64bit PC you will need a 4GB patch: http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

You shouldn't have any problems, I've used both on Win7. I even literally copied the GTL 2008 install from my old XP machine to my newer Win7 machine with no problems, though I think there is only about 2 or 3 original cars left in that install.......

I have Windows 8 and an old install copied over and that works fine but smoother with the 4GB patch.

There were some small problems though:
To get screen-shots of GTL in game I had to install 'Fraps'.
'Trace' files are now located in your documents on the 'C' drive.
and some other small problem that I easily sorted but cannot remember what at the moment.

I have a 64 bit,but my problem is a lock of windows start cause a starforce drivers ,when istall the game ask to restart windows and after give me a error message for any program or drivers installed !!!

You now need to use the disc less digital version of GTL which does not have the StarForce encryption on it that causes all the problems... perhaps someone has the free download link please?

If someone supplies this link it should fix your problems when it's all installed m8!..
You may be able to find the link yourself if you type in something like digital version of GTL

I downloaded the digital version of GTL years ago and it's worked fine until a few weeks back when I started getting all sorts of anomalies.

I now get CTD as soon as I've selected my track and cars.

No problem I thought I'd just reinstall from the .exe file I downloaded, but this too had become corrupted in some way.

I've paid for and downloaded the version from RaceRoom only to find this only works through steam.

Has anyone got a working download link where I can download another digital version minus starforce?

I'll be honest, I'm desparate.....
