GTL to GTR2 Project

I've been working on a project in my spare time for the past few weeks that at some point I'd like to share with the community in one form or another.

Using GTL to GTR2 as a base, I'm compiling every add on car I can find into a single mod. I'm staying consistent with the original concept of GTL - ie. 1970's and earlier, and reorganizing everything into a new system of classes, loosely following the current FIA historic classes for varying displacement vehicles.

For years I've been enjoying things produced by the community without giving anything back. I don't the talent to create models or tracks, or the time to learn, but by applying some of what I've learned here and in other forums I am able to edit text files.

Many of the add on cars have been downloaded here, many from No-Grip, and a few from Alterbude. The readme's in a lot of the GTL cars specifically request 'no-conversions'.

I've been thinking of ways I might be able to share this with the community without needing to chase down the creators of each individual car for permission. I'm not interested in claiming any of the work as my own and will gladly give them credit in a readme when they are known.

Another thought I had is to create a tutorial explaining how I'm going about this. But honestly, all I'm doing is taking other peoples ideas and information and applying it.

For what it's worth, I'm about half done - with more than 50 different model cars in game running in 3 classes. As it's laid out now, there will ultimately be about 120 different models in 15.

I expect to have this project completed by the end of September. I'll be taking a break beginning next week for surgery, but after that will have plenty of spare time as I recuperate.

Any comments,thoughts, suggestions, ideas on this project - particularly about how I might be able to share it, would be appreciated.

georgeo, keep at it, you may even convince me to install GTR2 again.

If you need beta testers, I am sure there are a few of us that will jump at the chance. You only need to ask.

Sounds good what you´re planning... As for me the GTL-GTR2 mod is an excellent mod and even if it is not elaborated to its fullest it is the base for any GTL "game" evolution.

The P+G theme is perfectly elaborated but it´s a bit lacking on evolution as it is on adjusting possibilities although I do believe the P+G team is still alive and working

Now I´m trying to tame the pony from the other side by sorting the car into yearly classes and class categories: like GT20 for GTs up to 2 litres and GTC-70 as a category. I´m really happy about anyone who uses and works on the GTL-GTR2 theme since GTL is very much positioned within the historic-FIA GT line. So if one does i.e. a sim for the WSGT series GTL won´t fit at all.
