PostSubject: New old guy, long time race simmer   New old guy, long time race simmer EmptyWed 13 Jul 2022, 3:55 pm

Just getting back up to speed after a major PC meltdown. Now I know what a power supply smells like when it dies.
So I'm catching up a bit. Big fan of GPLaps, and noticed his Lemans WSCC 1967 mod he was using, which references this site.
I actually have the GTR2 CD, so I set it up and it works well with the Power and Glory mod, although I didn't do the Anniversary patch, since I'm mostly interested in older cars anyways.
So which tracks and mods would you recommend ?
Also wondering If GTR2 has anything like a GPL mod?
I have to say the sounds from GTR2 are really good, even compared to more modern sims like Assetto Corsa.
Only sound I wish someone could get right is the Matra in a sim.
Just nothing like it.
I would post something, but I can't for 7 days.

Although still WIP, the 1967 WSCC mod by NPanic is one of the best mods existing (besides P&G):

https://www.evolution-modding.net/t2513-wip-1967-world-sportscar-championship-mod-thread-1

https://www.evolution-modding.net/t2709-wip-1967-world-sportscar-championship-mod

It's a bit of a search to find the last valid download links, but worth a try.

Cool

Hi there,

I like old cars also and made several old-school tracks special for GTR2; maybe you like them... good luck

Can you find all the older tracks in one place, or is it more of a search thru different sites to find them all?
This is one of the lists I've seen, but no locations.

Not sure if you care about that part, but Crew Chief GTR2 Enhancements plugin tries to emulate rev matching with per gear damage, and you can even get gear grinding effect via tactile transducers. To me personally, shifting 70s cars as modern F1 is quite a turn off, so if that's interesting to you, check it out Smile

Many of my 'Classics' have been tampered with by me, for instance I increase the gear change time for them, (I use the floppy poodles on the back of the G29 as the stick shift is absolute rubbish) this allows for a 'missed gear/locked axle possibility if I try to run through them too quickly, and that can result in a spin... I love punishment.
Gear damage sounds appealing.

GTR2 Power and Glory Tracks

All those tracks would have been at Nogrip, which is sadly no more.

I think that list was put up by JGF at SRMZ.

I have quite a few of them.

I'll upload them to Mediafire over the weekend.

Just reading this:

https://primotipo.com/2022/08/06/wigram/

asking myself whether there does exist a GTL / GTR2 conversion of the Wigram Airfield Circuit.

Pete Conway mentioned that
"For GTR2 Have you tried SB-Cadwell, that is one of my favourite tracks, you can almost feel the edges of the track breaking up a bit, the road textures are really well thought out, Fantastic!
other favourites of mine is Gedinne2011 and Goodwood if only they demand you to push push push, they're real deserving tracks."
Haven't been able to find those either, but I'm hoping he replies to that other thread.
Seen quite a few videos of the races at Goodwood with the classic cars and I have to say they drive pretty hard. They are really something to watch.
Hey jeannmiller does that green and black BMW 2002 have round tailights I hope ?
That would be great sunalp2 If you could Smile

I have converted that (GTL & GTR2), a few years ago, but not sought permission to release yet as it has a couple of issues.

If you have an existing GTR2 install you can load all the tracks into the GTR2 folder and use PnG_TrackLinker program to use pointers to give the tracks to the P&G install--save drive space.

Thanks for letting me know about this - I miss that effect in many mods, now I'll know _how_ to achieve it (rear lockup).

Pete Conway wrote:

I am not some sadist (I hope!  I think I am simply obsessed with replicating motorsport details) but plugin is full of that: flat spots (actual flat spots, not fake FFB), dirt pickup, more correct sequential shifting, additional rules and penalties etc.  So, you may find quite a lot of ways to ruin your race by enabling those features.
